KNOX: Encouraging Small Business

Improving workforce training and education is more important to attracting business than reforming the tax structure. As mayor, I will provide the Community College of Philadelphia, and the workforce investment system as a whole, with the resources necessary to make meaningful change in our economy.

The workforce is not of high quality and helping Community college match its training with needed skills is important and an idea that needs to be developed no matter who becomes mayor. In Silicon Valley the secret weapon has been the community college system that trains the workers for the chip plants. However, small businesses need simplified processes for permitting and other interactions with city government. What will he do here? I’m glad he is not proposing low-interest loans. This is an illustration of his finance background.
