EVANS: Funding for Nonprofit Cultural Organizations

The City of Philadelphia provides only three percent of the arts and culture industry’s total funds, which is a low amount among comparable cities. I will work with City Council to increase this percentage. I will also push for a voter referendum to approve a .01 percent regional tax in support of the arts.

I will also expand cultural organizations even further and increase funding by developing partnerships with national organizations and foundations as well.

How would you interest national organizations and foundations to provide arts funding for Philadelphia rather than, say, Washington or New Orleans?
